Peace of mind after the storm
After a hurricane, homeowners who are away face the same questions: Is the roof okay? Did water get in? Is the power on, or is the fridge spoiling? Every day a problem goes unnoticed in our heat and humidity, the damage can grow.
Sunshine Sentry is a local, NHWA-accredited, bonded and insured home watch company. We'll be your boots on the ground, document what we find and help you take the next steps.
What we check after a storm
Outside
- Roof, as visible from the ground, for missing shingles or tiles
- Gutters, soffits and siding
- Windows, doors and garage doors
- Lanai screens, pool cage and fences
- Fallen trees, limbs and debris
- Standing water or flooding around the home
Inside
- Ceilings and walls for water stains or new leaks
- Floors and carpets for wetness
- Signs or smells of mold and mildew
- Under sinks, around windows and sliding doors
- Temperature and humidity levels
Systems
- Power status and tripped breakers
- AC operation
- Refrigerator and freezer for spoilage
- Water heater and plumbing for leaks
- Security system status
How it works
1. Request a check
Contact us before or after the storm with your address and access details. No monthly plan or long-term contract required.
2. We visit when it's safe
As soon as conditions allow and roads are open, we go through your home inside and out.
3. You get a photo report
We send a written report with photos and recommended next steps, and can meet adjusters or contractors for you.
After the inspection, we can help with
- Meeting insurance adjusters, roofers and water mitigation companies
- Letting contractors in and locking up after them
- Removing spoiled food from the fridge and freezer
- Reopening shutters and returning outdoor furniture
- Ongoing weekly visits until repairs are done
Our home watch customers also get pre-storm services like shutter closing and bringing in outdoor furniture.

Do I need to be a Sunshine Sentry customer to get a storm check?
No. We offer one-time post-hurricane inspections to new customers who aren't on a monthly plan, with no monthly plan or long-term contract required. Our monthly home watch customers receive storm checks as part of their service and get priority scheduling after a storm.
How soon after a storm can you check my home?
As soon as it's safe and roads are open. Existing monthly home watch customers get priority and are checked first, then one-time storm checks are scheduled in the order requests come in, so the earlier you book, the sooner we can get to your home.
What will I receive after the inspection?
A written report with photos of what we found, inside and out, plus our recommended next steps.
Can you meet my insurance adjuster or contractors?
Yes. We can meet adjusters, roofers, water mitigation companies and other contractors at your home, let them in and lock up afterward.
Is this the same as an insurance or home inspection?
No. Like all home watch, our storm check is a visual inspection for obvious issues. We are not licensed home inspectors or insurance adjusters, but we document what we see so you, your insurer and your contractors know where to start.
